2025 Conference
Reflecting on the first quarter of the 21st Century:
Proposing new solutions to emerging and continuing issues in education finance
Scholars, policymakers, educators, and legal professionals are invited to submit. Submissions will be accepted through January 10, 2025.
As the first quarter of the 21st Century draws to a close, we have the opportunity as a community of education finance scholars to both reflect on the past quarter century and project challenges that our P-22 schools will face in years to come. Many of the challenges that P-22 educational institutions face are not new; inadequate and inequitable educational funding is a challenge that remains as relevant as ever. Decisionmakers continue to face challenges prioritizing initiatives in educational environments with ever scarce resources.
P-22 institutions have also experienced a technological revolution over the past quarter century. While this has revolutionized the way students are educated, it has also added a significant layer of complexity (and cost) to school funding decisions. Most recently, the COVID pandemic provided educational institutions with logistical challenges of an unprecedented magnitude.
The National Education Finance Academy invites our community of scholars and practitioners to engage in rich discussions around the past and present challenges facing the field of education finance as we move into the second quarter of the 21st Century. You are invited to submit proposals for research roundtables, paper presentations, or symposia on topics related to school finance including (but not limited to) education law, economics, school operations, educational facilities, or related topics for our 15th annual National Education Finance Academy Conference scheduled for April 2-5, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Research Roundtable
This interactive session allows presenters to share their research projects at different stages of development, from early conceptual frameworks to preliminary findings. Presenters will provide an overview of their work, followed by a discussion with attendees to gather feedback, insights, and suggestions to help advance the research.
Paper Presentation
This session provides an opportunity for researchers to present completed empirical studies, theoretical analyses, or methodological advancements in a formal, conference setting.
Panel
A panel features a collection of research papers curated by the proposer around a unifying theme or topic within the field.
